Nor do we all ride horses and I haven’t worn my cowboy boots in years. We have real hills and even a river that flows in west Austin and downtown– The Colorado River.
Just sharing a few photos of Texas’ state capitol with y’all. Enjoy!
Funny how, when a friend comes to town, you experience your home city with new eyes. So, when my friend Derick came to town, I broke my routine and did something I hadn’t done in a long while.
We hiked up Mount Bonnell, and viewed the Austin skyline.
Then off to Contemporary Austin Laguna Gloria to visit nature and sculptures. And nature through sculptures.
We followed the paths …
And discovered a beautiful mermaid …
solitude,
and a renewed passion for nature.
Oh, and as a friend once told me in Florence, NEVER FORGET TO LOOK UP!

And yes, there are picnic tables, too!
Yesterday, I finally went to Graffiti Park. Castle Hill (the Castle itself once was once a Military Institute) was supposed to be a building development. It failed but the concrete walls remained. So, guess what sneaky graffiti artists did? They painted. And painted. Now, with permission, you can create your own graffiti art. This means that every time you go, you’ll find it different. Cool, huh?
I love looking at the past. I took this photo yesterday when I was downtown. These old railroad tracks have existed for over one-hundred years. I wonder if the new buildings will as well.
The rock crashes through the front window and glass shatters over Gladys. Crazy Olvie reaches for the telephone that sits in its cubby space in the short hallway. “Hurry up, now. Read me the name of the Sheriff’s Department.”
I know she meant to ask me to read the number instead of the name. But I can’t help it. I look at her telephone list of numbers taped to her fridge and say in my best deadpan voice, “Sheriff’s Department.”
“That’s what I said.” Her voice is louder now. “Read it to me!”
She’s clueless.
Her cheeks flush and her eyes look like they belong to one of Dracula’s brides.
“Glendale-4123.”
Mom had laughed when she told me that every time Olvie has to phone her doctor, she freaks out and curses all the zeros. She hates sticking her fingers in the seven-through-zero slots because she doesn’t like waiting for the dial to spin back around to home base. Lucky for her, these numbers won’t take any time.

Unfortunately, due to traveling, I was unable to be part of this glory. I am so proud of my city’s turnout, including my daughter and granddaughter. Over 50,000 showed up and made their voices heard. It makes my heart swell! A Successful march, indeed!
I am also proud of the one million-plus who showed their support from around the world. Thank you!

And, no, Mr. Trump, I have no need, nor a desire to purchase your coin. Please stop sending me your emails. I’d rather have LOVE instead.

… we can all be wonderfully creative?
I love diversity of all kinds. Diversity adds to our awareness. Besides, I live in Austin, Texas where our slogan is:
RIP, Leslie. You were a pleasure to meet.
