Praise for the Mountain

If I were a cow

I would roam beneath a mountain

and drink from a cool stream.

If I were an Arrowleaf flower

I would grow on a mountain hillside

and smile proudly at the hikers passing by.

If I were the remains of an old mining cable

I would stare at the mountains

and remember a time

when miners depended on my strength

to transport their coal.

If I were a wooden bridge

I would keep walkers safe as they crossed

and as they stopped in my middle

to admire the the mountain stream view

And if I were a mountain

I would look to the clouds and smile.

A frolic food?

“This is good. What the hell is it? Huh? An aphrodisiac, you say?”

That’s what I said the first time I ate one off a cheese plate.

The Caper berry is a Mediterranean fruit that grows on a thorny plant. They are actually the buds that are picked before they flower into white blossoms. In Biblical times, the caper berry was supposed to have aphrodisiac properties. Hmm… Perhaps, when ingested, they help us frolic about and have a mischievous caper of our own.

Suggestion: eat sparingly 🙂 🙂

When Life becomes Real

My daughter introduced my granddaughter to life outside of a song or a book.

My wee one knows that a cow says “moo.” So …

Now, she’s met a cow.

He stays silent. He doesn’t moo.

What’s wrong with these grownups? Do they just make crap up so we can repeat what they say?

<shrug> If you lead a horse to water, you can’t make him thirsty. 🙂
