I Only Like It Hot

spring-rhapsody-happiness-and-cherry-blossom-trees-jane-small-1

Each time I see the color pink

I blink to clear my eyes

because that hue before me

makes me want to immunize

It’s not that I hate girly things

assigned to that one color

it’s just that if I owned that tint

my closet, it would holler

But any other color always

 makes my eyes squint smiles

I wear them any time or place

with flair, in every style

There is one way that’s quite okay

(and nothing is for naught)

in nature pink that sizzles

is the one that I call “hot.”

Filling the Sinkhole Together

There has to be a loophole

for us who still believe

in justice, freedom and our rights

amidst dishonesty.

This gap won’t last much longer

for together we’ll encroach

to fill the sinkhole with the hearts

we’ll never let them poach.

Hands united, standing tall

we’ll show a greater strength

than those who are unwilling

to detect our common link.

INSPIRATION AND MY IM-PERFECT-TION

If you study the words and actions of Dr. Martin Luther King, will you become a better person? (inspiration from Tony Burgess Blog and JohnCOYOTE blog)

If you bring your experiences to the surface, can you be a better actor? (inspired by RIVRVLOGR blog)

If you study another human being, the way they walk, the sparkle in their eyes, will you like what you see? (inspired by fauxcroft)

If we force ourselves to unchain our words, will be become better writers? (inspired by Scribbled to Paper)

If you want to understand colors and shading, can you watch a tutorial for inspiration and create something beautiful? In this case, yes. (inspired by Stoneronarollercoaster)

If you study your image in that reflected glass, do you like what you see? (inspired by Lifelessons)

And, how I could go on with how you all, dear bloggers, inspire me.

I did not study up on how to be a grandmother.

But being one has inspired a new creativity inside my very core.

The Hidden to Light

29774e4b9a1ab066a89292fb4c912052--romantic-paintings-romantic-art

Entertain me with your laughter

not your bravado

dance for me a jig

and smile when I join you

Extend your hand

and walk me across the water

into a field of wild flowers

Run without thought

to catch my hat from the breeze

Talk to me of topics peaceful

and fill me with stories of compassion

Take me to your favorite place

and share with me the secrets inside

Remove the metal around your chest

to show me the softness within.

And I will shelter you from the storm.

Still the Waters Calm

il_340x270.1309748637_5k47

Still the waters calm

 but not stagnant

Static waters poison change.

Shift, transform

embrace the growth.

Barren souls

lack knowledge,

awareness.

Still the waters calm

but move

float

drift

evolve

enlighten.

Prepare to Ring the Bell

liberty-anthony-zecca

His crude and callous spoken words

evokes in souls once light

darkness, anger, and despair

at him, the mighty “right.”

But do not fear enlightened ones

his sand is running low

his hourglass, once emptied

will restore the faith we know.

I Am Not Your Sculpture

121015-lge

Please

do not carve me into a person of your liking

or carve me into something I’m not.

Instead, carve me some bread and cheese

and I’ll sit down with you in a moment of sharing.

Then, we will discover if we can be true friends

and whether our paths will again cross.

Lessons from the Fox

He was undu-ly-late

but that didn’t stop him from making his presence known to The Little Prince.

animals-face-to-face-01

And in excerpts, the fox said:

I am a fox.

I cannot play with you. I am not tamed.

It is an act too often neglected. It means to establish ties.

To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world . . .

My life is very monotonous … Think how wonderful that will be when you have tamed me! The grain, which is also golden, will bring me back the thought of you. And I shall love to listen to the wind in the wheat . . .”

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

“What is essential is invisible to the eye,” the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

Your Ass-Sets a Low Bar

If we hear you play the piano,

you are a pianist.

If you show us the carrots and onions you grew,

you are a gardener.

If you hand us a copy of your signed novel,

you are an author.

If you are pulling 10 oz padded gloves on your hands,

you are a boxer.

If you are covered in flour and hand us a loaf of warm bread,

you are a baker.

But if you have to tell us that you are a “genius” and that your “two greatest assets have been mentally stability and being, like, really smart,”

then I, for one, feel brilliant for not believing you.

Do Not Weep for Me

IMG_1635

Do not weep for me

for I have experienced a lifetime of joy

the sounds of birthing

the squeals of jubilant voices.

Do not weep for me

for I have felt the vibrations of storms

and weathered through them with dignity.

I have witnessed the changing of seasons

and watched the children have children.

I have seen the fruits gathered and shared by many hands.

I have smelled the soups of wellness upon a cookstove,

freshly cut grass at my entrance,

and the rain both distant and near.

I have experienced these things and more.

Do not weep for me.

Weep for the forlorn.
