… this tree could speak. Yes, this is ONE tree, not a cluster. I imagine it to be between 300 and 500 years old. If it could talk, it would tell me about my great-great grandparents who immigrated to America from Germany in the 1840’s. It would tell me how it watched as my grandfather, and later, my mother, took their first steps. It would fill this mind with my more of my family’s personal stories.
The hail
ripped through my okra,
oh what a storm,
the cucumbers, too
but the onions survived
and so did the corn!
A Farce of nature.
And yes, there are picnic tables, too!
This daddy screech owl protected his owl nest while waiting for the eggs to pop open.
And then, at least one, did! Quite a funny looking fellow, eh?
I know this whole family is saying, “Thank you, David Stalker, for building this owl house for us, putting it in your backyard, and for taking our picture. Now, we are happy AND famous.”

Sometimes, a rock is just a rock. Not this time. If you squint or close one eye, you will see a person with a face either motioning you with an arm to come inside his dwelling. Or, maybe motioning you to stop and come no closer.
Or is it just another Carolyn thing?

A Carolina wren found a place for her nest on top of our garage door opener! Hope she doesn’t mind the racket!
